Motorola Olympus is supposedly the first Motorola Android-based smartphone to feature a dual-core Tegra 2 processor. Details about the device were leaked last week and revealed its Olympus codename, as well as the fact that it will be available through AT&T carrier.

The new information related with the fact that the device embeds a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU are coming right after LG leaked their own dual-core Android smartphone, the LG Star.

Unfortunately, there weren't any pictures of the Olympus spotted in the wild, but recently, courtesy of Gizmodo, two pictures of the upcoming smartphone are now available.

Not much can be told just by looking at the pictures, apart from the fact that the smartphone's touchscreen seems to be larger than 3.7-inch.

Apparently, the tipster that sent the photos claims that this is just one of two Olympus devices that will embed Tegra 2 CPUs and that “this will hands down be the iPhone killer.”

Quoting from a document leaked last week by Androidandme website, Motorola Olympus has the model number MB860 and is supposed to run Android 2.2.1 with MOTOBLUR UI.

According to research company MKM Partners, the Motorola Olympus is expected to be launched on AT&T during the last week of January 2011.

Furthermore, it looks like the Olympus is also slated to be retailed through multiple carriers and by the look of it there's a slight chance that the phone will become one of Verizon’s first 4G LTE smartphones.

Even though rumors were pointing out to a Christmas release of Motorola Olympus, it seems that the handset manufacturer eventually decided to go for early 2011.

It is unclear if the phone was delayed so that Motorola could include Android 2.3 out-of-the-box or the device is still a work in progress.

As a side note, the LG Star dual-core 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 smartphone is also slated for a Q1 2011 release at T-Mobile, which perfectly lines up with Olympus' launch.
